Site Name: Boreen Point / Lake Cootharaba.
Address: Laguna Street, Boreen Point.
Directions: Take Louis Bazzo Drive from Pomona or Tewantin. Follow the signs to Boreen Point.
Description:. From the Hotel car park, take 'Tingleys Wood' track down to the sports field then through the caravan park to a track along the edge of the lake. This is well used but could be a little rough in places. Vegetation includes melaleuca, lomandra, Callitris columellaris, ('Bribie Island Pine') and swamp ferns. There are two tracks one closer to the lake than another. Both follow the edge of the lake, so walking one way and returning the other makes it interesting. A short track near the entrance to the caravan park leads back to the hotel for a cool drink. The hotel is also well known for its fabulous meals.
Birds: A site for bush birds. Bush Stone-Curlew and Brolga have been seen here. Fairy-wrens are abundant. Terns are often present on the lake. A full list of the birds recorded from this site is available within the Noosa Bird Trail bird species checklist here.
