Directions: From Tewantin take the Boreen Point Road past the Primary School. Turn left into Louis Bazzo Drive. Follow Louis Bazzo Drive to where it joins the Pomona to Kin Kin Road. Be prepared for another rather steep climb at one section to enjoy the view at the top.
Description: There is a water tank and shelter at the lookout. The sand blow can be seen in the distance. The sun in the west filtering through the trees makes this walk along the ridge a wonderful winter afternoon experience. The dry woodland, closed forest, along the ridge contains some great mature eucalyptus trees.
Birds: Treecreepers whistlers, trillers, and Topknot Pigeons make this a worthwhile birding area where the beauty of the trees can also be enjoyed. A full list of the birds recorded from this site is available within the Noosa Bird Trail bird species checklist here.
Signage: Follow Noosa Trail Network 'Trail 3' signs.
Parking: The closest parking is at the Arboretum Picnic Area which itself could be a good birding area in time, when the trees planted by the Green Corps Team, mature. This park was named in honor of W.D. Francis, 1920 to 1950's, who was an Australian pioneer of rainforest flora.
Condition: Observers need to be fit to enjoy the Johnson's Lookout site but the Arboretum is suitable for all levels of fitness..
