Site Name: West Cooroy State Forest.
Address: Top Forestry Road, Cooroy.
Directions: The site is 11 km from Cooroy Hotel. Travel 6 km along Belli Creek Road, turn left into Old Ceylon Road. Travel 1 km then turn right into Top Forestry Road. The site is a further 4 km on the right, after passing an avocado farm and the forestry sign, both on the right.
Description: The fire trails are wide. Vegetation is mixed eucalyptus and casuarina down to palms, mossy logs, and elkhorn along Blackfellow Creek.
Birds: Little Friarbird, Cicadabird, Spectacled Monarch, Rose-crowned Fruit-Dove. A full list of the birds recorded from this site is available within the Noosa Bird Trail bird species checklist here.
Signage: There will be no Noosa Bird Trail signs to this forest reserve.
Parking: Park at the start of the track.
Condition: The tracks are suitable for most levels of fitness. The return is a steady climb.
Note There are other fire breaks in the area where observers are welcome to walk. The fire tracks are not formalized for public use. They are there for management purposes and the protection of the forest. They are often used for vehicle access. Users must accept responsibility for their own safety, be aware of their own bearings/ position at all times, and abide by any directive from Queensland Parks and Wildlife (QPWS) and Department of Primary Industries (QDPI) Forestry staff. If logging or fire operations are evidently in progress in a State Forest, in a site discussed in this brochure, then access to that site is prohibited
