Noosa National Surfing Reserve
Australia's National Surfing Reserve Board voted unanimously to approve Noosa Heads as a dedicated National Surfing Reserve in July 2014.
The nomination for reserve status was developed by various groups including the Noosa Parks Association as well as Noosa Malibu Club, Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club, Noosa Boardriders, Noosa Shire Counci and Sunshine Coast Sports Federation.
National Surfing Reserves are 'iconic' places of intrinsic environmental, heritage, sporting, and cultural value to a nation. Being a surfing reserve is a voluntary covenant and does not exclude any user group. Noosa Heads is the 19th National Surfing Reserve in Australia.
The Noosa National Surfing Reserve encompasses five superb right-hand point breaks, all within the magnificent Noosa National Park, one of Australia's most pristine and natural coastal settings.
Now Noosa's National Surfing Reserve committee can form part of any discussions on matters relating to the use of the coastal environment and make public statements on relevant issues on behalf of all user groups.
